I have a heart problem but have some new symptoms. Have you had these? I get them when I am resting sitting or laying. I can feel it coming like a wave, it takes my breath way and gives me a strange feeling in my chest. I think my heart spreads up then returns to normal some times o get a big beat. I have also had a very bad chest pain (I always have chest pain) and burping which is new. Drs just gave me anti inflammatory which has helped with pain and indigestion med that has done nothing for the strange breathing heart beat thing. Any lone have any ideas what it could be?

The vagus nerve supplies nerves to the organs of the chest and abdomen and plays a part in heart rate regulation, swallowing , gut peristalsis, sweating and many other related functions. Worth googling. Could the strange feelings be related to the stomach burping etc.

Really interested to learn that the vagal nerve can affect sweating ,I have AFIB but only have episodes when I wake up,not in the day, sometimes a couple of times during the night,I wake to a feeling of heat and buzzing in my ears, I also have suffered from burping and indigestion for a long time but recent AFIB since the end of June. I mentioned it to gp but she rolled her eyes and said AFIB was not related to the vagal nerve..... I am sure it probably is...

Im no expert but sounds like it could be atrial fibrilation. Ask your doctor or cardiologist if he thinks it could be. Hugs sara

Hello Goldfish10,

I am sorry to hear of these problems. I would like to ask you some questions, if I may. You say that you have chest pain all the time. Do you have it 24/7, and how does the pain respond to exertion/resting? Do you have these experiences at night? And do you have any other funny symptoms going on that you haven't mentioned?

To me, your description is quite similar to my experiences with microvascular angina, which I hope it isn't.

with kind regards

Jonathan

Some pain in my chest is muscular, some costrocondritus and some this new problem which I think is my heart. Pain is all day and at night. Sometimes weired feelings wake me. Heart and breathing. Chest pain is now worse when I walk very clearly now exercise brings it on and I don't move very fast my body won't let me! I get pain resting but that's when my heart goes strange. Sitting better than laying. Yawning hurts too. It's hard to know what going on because so much pain for different reasons. I need scans and 24 HR ecgs I think that's the only way to know but it's hard getting to that point with Gps. I mite have to go to a and e if this takes too long. But he don't want to do that!

At the risk of annoying most of the other respondents but bear with me, please...what you describe is quite like one of my multiple heart condition signals the pericarditis I endure is moving to an acute phase ('recurrent' with pericardial effusion, hence the near constant 'pain' I register as an ache)...

Other respondents here have noted your symptoms 'sound like...'

What is important is two-fold - one that what you're described sounds like rather a few conditions, and two that the ONLY qualified information you should trust will come ONLY from your medical team.

Please, please, please - Monday morning (or sooner if you have online appointment booking access) ring through and book an appointment to speak with someone on your team about the new symptoms you're experiencing. Please. And update us - we care:)

PS - I do empathise, I've recently begun to have a different kind of angina pain (yeppers, another of my multiple heart conditions) than previously felt. I have an appointment for the last week of October with my cardiology team (cardiac MRI and then a consult with the cardiologist) but after two weeks of a different sort of pain I rang the GP Friday - I'm seeing her on Monday morning. She was quite clear (via the staffer who answered the telephone) this was possibly an important development and she didn't want me to wait until the end of the month to speak with the cardiologist.

It may well be the same for you which is why I urge you to contact your medical team, and to update us after.

Good points very well made Sunnie2day.

I hope your appointment with the GP goes okay.

Thank-you:) I'm hoping the new chest pain isn't anything serious but better to know for sure.

it sounds like you could be suffering from atrial fibrillation, a heart rate that goes from very fast to slow. I suffer with this and it can make you feel dizzy, sweaty and generally quite unwell. It could also be the start of something more serious. You need to see your GP asap, who, if it is AF that you have will start you on Bisoprolol , a beta blocker to steady the heart rate. Good luck.

Thank you for all your comments. The GP is writing a letter to cardiologist to see me. I have my fingers crossed this isn't a long process. I'm getting chest pain when I walk now and when I went slowly on an exercise bike. Think I need to chase this up a lot. It feels like such a battle to get to a specialist or it investigating! It's not like it's just a toe that hurts is important.

Thank you. I need all the ideas on what it can be so I can ask the specialist because when I get to see them. I need to make the most of my time with them. Never thought of keeping my ecgs. Will do that now. I hope your condition is controlled well. Thanks again
