How long to wait for tests

I was diagnosed with heart failure 2-3 4 years ago, but when on medications my ventricular function returned to normal but said I should have another Echo in 5 years. That was last year. I have heart valve disease, mainly arotic stenosis and Mitral regugitation. Recently I have been getting palpitations and irregular heart rate diagnosed by my GP, who after an ECG decided to send me back to the hospital. This was August. I have a letter from the consultant and a questionairre, which I filled in and sent back. They want to fit a 24 hour monitor, and said I would hear from them. This was 2 weeks ago. I have not heard anything and have an irregular heartbeat and chest which is worrying me. How long is the normal wait for such tests?
