You are having a bypass because of narrowing of a number of cardiac arteries. Narrowing can also occur in other arteries such a those in the leg, PAD (peripheral arterial disease) or the neck (cartoid arteries). They always check the cartoid arteries as an unexpected blockage during surgery could be disastrous. It is reassuring that they are doing this scan.

No problem! Any worries just ask - I have done the bypass journey. You will probably have some more tests before the day. If you haven't not been to the dentist recently book a check up as in the event of any loose teeth, infection or decay surgery tends to be delayed as infection can travel to the heart.

Thanks for that, as you know I have cleido cranial dystosis

I have grown about 40% more teeth than the average adult but at the moment I have 2 teeth erupting which is going to make things difficult, I cannot clean them as they are too small. I will go to the dentist. Thanks for the info. Will keep in touch. Mahol

Hi mahol. It's perfectly normal for the carotid artery (the big neck one) to be scanned. My husband had this scan following his angiogram last June. The carotid was fine but the angiogram showed quite a few bunged up arteries. He had a quad bypass last November.

All the very best to you from both of us xx

Last night at 2am I had a violent reflux event in bed fast asleep. I got up and used my spray and took gaviscon advance. It settled down in about 5minutes.scared me. Is this an angina attack or hiatus hernia?

Sounds more like your hiatus hernia. The problem is everyone presents angina differently. With mine I got pain and pressure in the centre of my chest accompanied by breathlessness. If you get angina while resting you need to talk to your GP...
