Hello and welcome to the forum! Flecainide is a strong anti-arrhythmic that works by slowing the electrical signals in the heart to stabilize the heart rhythm. Its action may be affected by alcohol and any other medication you might be on. You really need to ask your GP.
There seems to be a misapprehension that socialising equates to drinking!
Can you find somewhere to socialise without alcohol? Maybe evening classes or meet up with friends in a coffee shop instead?
You'll be surprised at the conversations you might have around similar interests etc and then if you don't drink shocked at what sometimes passes for socialising in a pub!
I've never been much for drinking but that's never stopped me going out to alcohol serving venues (ok yes, I love a good pub crawl and when younger loved clubbing - the louder the better!). I always had/have a lemonade with a lemon twist, no-one has ever said 'Oh, you're not drinking, why ever not?!' as it looks as though I'm having a vodka something.
I loved the clubs I got in free with free soft drinks (back in the day) if I was wearing my 'designated driver' badge - they always treated me like royalty, it was great!
Hello...I've been on flecainide for 20 years or so for SVT. I occasionally [maybe once a fortnight] have half a glass of wine...you can make it last all night if you're having fun. Yes alcohol is not always necessary to have a good time and nowadays there are lots of great non alcoholic cocktails/drinks around. No point in taking medication to help your body if you stop it working properly. Cheers
