I think my cause is worry/stress.

Had my HA/stents 5 months ago and it came as a big shock, "why me?" I thought, my diet was pretty good, with very little processed food, no fizzy drinks, never smoked, drank very little alcohol, not overweight, blood sugar okay and both parents made it to their mid 80s. I was/am only 67.

I change my diet afterwards, but it seems that was and still isn't the culprit, my mother had heart problems and like me she was easily stressed. Fairly trivial troubles would go around in her mind, get bigger until they were way out of reality, then anxiety, anger and depression would quickly set in. My 30 year old daughter has the same and we have to fix this.

Some sort of benificial mind control is needed and a quote (or rather a misquote) I read hit a chord........... Buddha was asked: “What have you gained from Meditation?” He replied: “Nothing.” “However”, Buddha said, “let me tell you what I lost : Anger, Anxiety, Depression, Insecurity, Fear of Old, Age and Death.”

Now I changing my diet dramatically, when I thought that was the main cause and that was easy for me, but this is much more tricky. The importance of stress management is crucial to heart health, but where to start?

I even got stressed yesterday just thinking about the task ahead and I seem compelled to read the news, hoping for a Brexit that will never happen, or worrying about the start of another pointless (but luctrative for some) war.

I need to stop this train which has sped up over the years and get off.

Are you still in the UK? If yes, your cardiologist should be able to refer you to counselling - it works. I like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, it works very well.
