My husband has many heart/health conditions, Last Heart attack in april, MRI stress test canceled in May now Sept. App for results not until Oct, So angry and worried over delays, Please what can hubby expect at this MRI? is it safe for him to go alone? He has been told there is no medical treatment they can offer only medication and he is already on the maximum of everything they can give, He has started to suffer breathlessness just for the odd moments once or twice aday and it woke him up the other night, I would be grateful of any advice please, Many thanks

Prior to my bypass I suffered breathlessness occasionally. However, it was on exertion rather than at rest. At times it was accompanied by angina. Does your husband suffer from this. I would report this breathlessness to your GP.

As regards the scan whilst he should be OK alone I would suggest he is best accompanied. The drugs administered together with the contrast dye may result in dizziness, headache and sometimes nausea. Having had three scans how you feel can vary. I have felt fine and another time slightly rough. Hope you get a clearer diagnosis.

Thank you, My husband had a quadruple bypass in 2012, then in 2016 after a leg amputation he had his 2nd heart attack stents were fitted He went on to have a 2nd leg amputation done that year, He recovered well but it took 9 mths before he was seen by our heart clinic nurses, He was under their care for about 6 mths then signed off, He had another heart attack in Dec 2018 stents were fitted but no follow up or after care, April yet another heart attack and it was found that he had a clot inside of one of the stents,MRI ordered, No after care, He had a angina attack late May this year Heart consultant said he would ref him to the pain clinic, We never heard from them, He will see his consultant on 25th Sept [follow up to April HA],

He doe's suffer from dizzieness but they seem to think it is the drugs he takes which causes this but we will report it again, It seems the breathlessness is only when he is resting and passes in a matter of moments'

I have to say the after care here is shocking, We have a lovely heart hospital BUT the MRI can only be used by them on a Tuesday, They scan 6 people am and the same in the mornings and thats it!

Thank you so much, you have been a great help

I’ve had 2 MRI stress tests. I had no physical side effects and the procedure is painless. You just lie still. It is very noisy (you’re given headphones) and does provoke anxiety. That’s it.
