Try using the search term 'epicardial fat' (Google, but be careful which links you click); it's associated with AF, T1 and T2 diabetes, and obesity but unless you're under 5ft tall, you certainly don't qualify as obese weighing in at 72kg.

I have to admit when I saw your subject header, my heart jumped just a bit and I thought 'Oh swell, something else to worry about!' - I have multiple heart conditions and three are pericardial (recurrent pericarditis, pericardial effusion, pericardial scarring) so things do tend to go straight to my pericardium and now I'm going to lie awake nights worrying about pericardial fat (apparently better described as epicardial fat)! Erm, thanks for that, I think :)

Hi Sunnie2day thanks for reply ... am not sure what it’s all about.

BUT I was told by my lung doctor my bottom lung is my only good bit AND this fatty pad as been squashing my only good bit of lung.

Am not to thrilled eather AS did read fatty pads are like tattoos AS once you got them THE there forever.

Some same the like markers for CVD others say the like love handles and part of aging.

I guess might need to read up on Eskimo’s and there pericardial fat pads AND what’s being done to help them.

Did read this more research being done given there CVD risk factors

Eather way am going to be positive and think the just luv handles AND try manage my suger intake better JUST to be on side of caution.

Have to go have unltrasound on heart GUESS know what to ask consultant about now

From the very little I've read, the fat can be diminished by losing weight, but that reading applied to T2Ds who are/were clinically obese - again, unless your height is 5ft or less, I can't see your 72kg qualifying you as clinically obese.

That said, I am not medically trained and you should take absolutely every word I type and post with the biggest grain of salt ever. You're on the right track - the cardiologist is your No1 and best source of information and guidance. Please update after you've had the consult, I'm serious about wanting to know whatever you hear.

With issues like s "fatty liver" a few people have to go to the bottom end of the normal BMI range to lose the fat. Others lose it if they reach the top end. We are all different. If I was 72kg Oxfam would come round! 😁

I can remember when 72kg was my get-to weight. Yes, at 5'6'' and (embarrassed but heigh ho) 93kg, I was clinically obese and at the time my biggest worry was possible T2D, not more heart troubles. Funny how things work out, on the way to losing weight (I still have a few spare kg) the heart problems reared their pointed little heads instead of T2D.

I have huge bones, no, really, I do - at just under 11st I always have a bit of fun at the cardiac weigh-in and the look on the nurses faces when they see my weight. They always re-check and say 'This can't be right, you don't look more than 8st!'. Big bones, gotta love 'em.

Hi Michaeljh ad not mind but my BMI as all ways been what’s recommended.

Not sure what it’s all about .. but doctors said it’s quite normal for heart to miss 3 beats every 20s

Said only treat issues if over 6 beats in 20s

Problem about these studies, I could think of, one study says one thing, then another one comes along, it says something else.

Lots of people, who are thin/fit/lower BMI do have epicardial fat.

That's how fit looking people get HA/CA.

Which hospital do you go to, if you don't mind me asking this?

It's good that your consultant knows what he's doing.

Mine didn't.

Thank you. . .

Your article was very interesting.

It appears to be Japanese.

It comments on TNF.

Stress, me thinks. . .

Could it be genetic. . . ..?

Your doctor sounds very helpful.

Good luck with your test.
