I came across this link on Twitter for those out there who would are interested in understanding scientific info and how valid a scientific paper is.

It comes from The Cochrane Library. This is from their website

Our vision is a world of improved health where decisions about health and health care are informed by high-quality, relevant and up-to-date synthesized research evidence.

The link below is to a free introduction to understanding evidence based medicine.

In the 4 months since my heart attack I have spent hours almost every day researching, much through Google and there are a lot of different opinions. I went most of my life avoiding drugs, no painkillers, nothing. Now I am stuck with them, so I am trying to help things along with diet and there are many different opinions ranging from Dr.Esselstyn's Whole plant based diet, Vegan without oil, to more conventional with a omega 3 playing a big part. Haven't found anything that makes me feel better, or stronger so far, but am determined to stay away from any drugs I don't need to stay alive.

" but am determined to stay away from any drugs I don't need to stay alive ". Problem with that statement is how do you decide which ones are doing you good ??

If you want answers to your questions then only rely on the NHS or BHF websites. Unfortunately Dr Google is full of Snake Oil Salesmen.

I would say looking at the claims made for many products sold by "health" outlets Snake Oil products are alive and well!

Thanks for reminding us of this important site. It does tend to be on the moderately + skeptical side, which is no bad thing, since much of medicine is based on weak evidence.
