Hi all.. my first time out on HealthUnlocked, a newbie, but not a newbie to heart issues. I was first diagnosed with ischemic heart disease back in 2007 (aged 40), and following various procedures over a 2 month period and 4 stents later, I then had a relatively good 10 years, before the same symptoms started to appear.
2018, my last procedure was not so easy going, having had 3 catheterisation entries via my wrist already, had left scarring, needless to say the 4th attempt was not successful, so my doctor had to retreat and prep my groin... 2 hours later and a further 3 stents, I was back in the saddle after a few days. Not the nicest 2 hours I had spent with a group of strangers.
Thinking it was all over, I continued to experience sharp pains and tightness across the chest, and had been waiting almost 8 months before I heard from my consultant - so they completely missed my 3 month follow up due to workload. I then receive a letter requesting that I undergo a further MRI. Cardiac Stress Perfusion test... and following that test, I have been given an urgent referral appointment for further stents.
My last Coronary angioplasty and stent insertion was back in October 2018, and worryingly I do have concerns about this additional procedure. My main worry is the second entry point through the groin, as the wrist is now not really an option, and my second worry is how many more stents can I have...
I understand that I need to have these procedures, but I still get chest pain, discomfort and tightening pretty much on a daily basis even after the stents. Physically it is not so bad, but mentally, it does worry me!
I guess, the main concern is the future, and what will be the next steps for me!
7 stents and counting - bets are on!
