Congratulations on quitting smoking, You've gone nearly six months now which is an amazing achievement! I went through it so I know how tough breaking your nicotine addiction can be.

I don't now the answer to your lack of energy question, but I do know that if you were to ever chance an occasional cigarette as a "pick me up" then you'd be right back to where you started. So, difficult as it is, you've got to tough it out.

You're doing marvellously, don't put your massive achievement at risk now!

I stopped for 4 months the. Stress and anxiety caused me to start again. Kept telling myself I’ll get of them again but here I am after 3 month still having about 5 a day. Please don’t have one it will set you right back and it never helped my stress and anxiety anyway. I suffer constant fatigue due to meds. Keep going your doing amazing.

Hi, I can’t speak from experience of smoking but know how stressed I felt when my husband was ill in hospital and his subsequent heart journey. Maybe smoking helped with the stress by making your brain concentrate on doing something else for a few minutes and taking a few deep breaths was calming. If so, would a different activity to distract and prompt you to take a few deep breaths help?

I hope you find something that works for you and you begin to feel better. All the best to you and your husband.

I think you should discuss the exhaustion with your doctor.

My dad stopped smoking when he was 60 after 42 years of 20-40/day, merely after a chat with the doctor> He threw the ciggies in his glove compartment and 2 years later took them out and threw them away. He lost his cough, upped his energy (after a few months) but for the gods he would have made 90, 30 year after giving up. He kept fit gardening and he ate well, so look at you diet and think about those extra years you will enjoy and others around you. Congradulations!
