Recovery after bypass

I'm new to the community. I had a quad bypass in November 2016 after experiencing tightness in my chest and jaw but no heart attack. Last year I started to have the same feelings again and panicked that something was wrong. I was referred back to my cardiologist which resulted in my having a cardiac perfusion MRI. I was relieved to receive a very positive report which concluded that I had a normal MRI with no evidence of cardiomyopathy or ongoing ischaemia. However I still get feelings of tightness in my chest and neck and while I don't worry so much about them now, I would still like to know why they happen. I generally feel well otherwise and can do light work at the gym without the tightness getting worse. My heart rate and blood pressure behave normally. I just wondered whether anybody else has had a similar experience this long after a bypass.

Hi

Just thought I would add my 10p worth to this. Had a quad bypass more than 20 years ago & was told at the time lifespan before further treatment was 7 years. 16 years later in 2015 I started to get angina again doing the least little thing. Had 3 different procedures for stents in 2016/17.

It was suggested in late 2017 they would consider rotablation to my original arteries - unfortunately this was shelved last year after a follow up revealed I now have HF as well. My pace of life is now slow & steady and always have a GTN to hand if need be. Just recently have started to swell up again and busy increasing my Furosemide again to compensate. I try not to dwell on things but have learned what some of my limitations are.

hi there,

my quad was at a similar time, I too experienced issues a year or so in but got a clean bill of health. Recently I have experienced tightness in the chest and a shortage of breath, all reported to my GP, he doesn't seem concerned so I have put myself on a diet and exercise regime as I have let it slip, thus far symptoms are easing

Thanks for your comments. I was thinking of going to the GP but, because the MRI result was so positive I suspect that he will not be concerned either. I am glad your symptoms are easing skid112 and I hope my new exercise regime will have the same result.

I had 4xCABGs in 1997 and I am still here. I didn't start having further issues until 2016 - high BP when I was under a lot of stress. Almost 20 years!
