Hi Christina1947. I haven’t heard that one before. Maybe they used the wrong standard letter template for appointments as some departments need this information eg Diabetes clinics. If they intend to X-ray they always ask for pregnancy possibilities regardless of age.

A multipurpose urine dipstick can test for many things, exactly which depending on the type. Typically this would test for glucose (possible indicator of diabetes) and protein (potential kidney problems). Other markets could show infection, calcium, etc.

Yes, I had a eye test in a new optician earlier this year, and he spotted a raised mark on my iris so got me referred to Ophthalmologist in hospital - the appointment letter asked me to bring list of meds and urine sample! Took both - asked for neither!

They used to do that a lot with Kevin, think there must have been a urine lake somewhere that needed topping up!!

I contribute to that lake once a year when I'm asked to collect three days worth of urine for a test

It can show up conditions/infections that you may be unaware of

I feel that that is a pretty standard letter & I have never taken all my meds for example, or anything else & they have never asked for them.

The only time I have had a different instruction, was when they enclosed a blood form & that was obviously intended for me, it had my details on it!
