I am writing to ask if there are any medical professinals on this site who could help me with an unanswered question regarding my initial visit to GPs and the actions of the GP towards my ailments wich turned out to be two heart attacks, no examination, no pulse,no blood pressures no physical examination atall no family history taken although both parents and brother died of heart desease......no preventitive meds given until my chest clinic appt but I had two (recorded) heart attacks inbetween seeing GP and rapid access clinic appt which was delayed by 12 days. This has totally ruined mt outlook in life, I lost everything and I need someone to tell me if indeed his actions were competent......please any advice would maybe solve a few problems for me

Hi stooboo I went through the same before my heart attack. I thought I had indigestion for 2 days. Went to go as it wasn't shifting no matter what I took. He didn't take any action like yourself. Just said if he a crystal ball he could tell me what was wrong and sent me away with Zantac. An hour later started to get pins and needles in arm and knew what it was then as most family members died of heart attacks. Called go bk to see what to do gave her my symptoms and said I thought it was a heart attack. She went to talk to dr who said he would call me bk. I jumped in car and headed to hospital where they looked after me. Go eventually phoned me back 4 hrs later. No one in hospital could believe it and they all said it was negligence. Apparently most women who present themselves with indigestion are having heart attacks. Basically what I'm saying is your not alone. It seems to be more common in women for whatever reason

I know it's shocking. I'm still angry when I think about it. I'm trying to put it in the past as iv got too much going on to dwell on it. I'm lucky in that I can still work a few hours a week although that may change if I keep passing out and not able to drive. It's very worrying. Try focus on what you can do and less on what you can't. Sorry can't be more helpful. It's been said many times but it does get better. Good luck

My GP told me I had a chest infection and gave me steroids for asthma.

I understand your distress.

I went to A and E several days later. They did a blood test but after several hours of waiting sent me home saying it was pain from arthritis. When I got home (50 mile round trip ) they rang me and said come back.

i know and totally understand what your going through .. last october i had my first heart attack caused by a blood clot inisde my heart ... months prior to this i was poorly .. symptoms of heart failure... many appoinments at the gp surgery, diagnosing it with my asthma getting worse .. increasing y fostair inhaler .. giving me montelukast tablets. sent me for an xray to be told i had fluid on the lungs and enlarge heart but not to worry they will refer me to an asthma specialist.. considering my dad died of a heart condition... this was september 2017... i went down hill faced and october 2017 was rushed into hospital with a heart attack aged 38 and once in hospital diagnosed with heart failure and dilated cardiomyopathy... and informed i have never had asthma... i was wrongly diagnoesed ...

I was very lucky, I walked into my GP' s surgery at 6.30pm one evening with a pain that was tight round my chest, I was seen two minutes later and four minutes later the GP called for an ambulance, taken straight to hospital, had a blood test which proved I'd had a heart attack.

I am very sorry that you had so many problems. You can actually look up GP's in your area, google, and see who is the best, then you can change, that is all I can suggest.

Hi Stooboo it looks to me like you need legal opinion not medical.

I can understand your anger and how difficult it is to suddenly lose your income. My wife and I have both lost our jobs to ill health and are having to sell our home in an attempt to clear our multiple debt. This will leave us with insufficient money to buy anywhere else. So I do empathise and understand.

Hi - I had breathing and gastro problems two years ago, was told it would just go away. I insisted in being referred to the North West Lung Centre in Manchester. They were thorough - lots of tests including heart scans - nothing. Symptoms get worse. Massive tiredness and concentration issues. Went to see Neuro and Gastric Consultants, Dietitians. Had to finish work and move house. Then diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue. Nine weeks ago, I started with chest pains (excruciating) - doctor called an ambulance. Nothing on the ecg and morphine didn't touch the pain. An hour later in A&E had a cardiac arrest and cpr and defib managed to re start my heart - two stents and a clean up and I am starting my rehab.

The frustrating part is at no point in the last two years did any of the many doctors or consultants put together my classic heart/angina conditions and make a guess. I'm annoyed at myself too. I'm not your classic 'heart attack case' but still frustrates me but I was really lucky at the end of the day.

I'd been to my GP several times because of breathlessness when gardening or going upstairs, extreme tiredness and in the past few weeks because of really severe indigestion. Totally ignored and told it was muscular. So I took things into my own hands and rang an ambulance. Now after a heart attack two stents and needing another pressure angiogram,, I'm having severe problems with statins and the GP has refused to change them despite the consultant asking her to. I was told the surgery no longer even has an ECG machine.

I was given anti - depression for 'anxiety/panic attacks. It was mè actually having angina attacks, then the heart attack, which GP said it was highly unlikely its probably a virus. Well some virus that turned out to be. Complaiñ in writing to the Practice manager and see what they say.
