Hi, I've just been reading that a low triglyceride/hdl ratio can indicate that you have good insulin sensitivity and relatively large, less harmful LDL particles.
Does anyone know if this is true?
The reason I ask is because since starting statin therapy and adopting a mainly Mediterranean diet my blood lipid profile has improved significantly.
I also believe that insulin resistance and inflammation is the main cause of heart disease so with a ratio of 0.3 if the above is true maybe I have slowed or halted the progression of my disease.
Interested to hear people's opinions thanks.

It's my understanding that what you state about the low ratio is true and as a result reduces our risk factors.....although we certainly can't influence a risk factor such age , we are empowered to reduce other risk factors through diet and lifestyle changes, likely far more than what many believe we are capable of.
You are on the right track. To know if you are insulin sensitive or resistant, you can take a blood test called the NMR Lipoprofile (about $100 USD) at a private lab.
I resolved my heart disease after a triple bypass and 4 stents in 2015 by changing my diet and lifestyle. I lost 40 lbs to normalize my weight. I stopped ALL medications by October 2016.
I am now in optimal health.
I'm on a whole-foods, plant-based diet (Mediterranean Diet) and avoid all sugars and simple carbohydrates.
