Is it normal to have heart palpitations/racing heart when coming off of Propranolol or other beta blockers?
I have been weaning off slowly and will be completely off in a few days.

Yes I had this after being weaned off propanalol over a two week period. It was awful and I feel my heart has not gone back to normal. Had awful palpitations, high blood pressure and pains.
What were you on Propranolol for?
Do you still get palpitations??
I think it depends on the person. Some people have done a cold turkey and been OK. Others, like me, have tapered and had a rocky road. Was bisoprolol, not propanalol. I felt like my heart was pounding in my ears. It took a few weeks to really settle down. What didn't help was that I got very anxious during this period, so that was adding to the bumpy journey.
Can you wean yourself off even more slowly? Why are you coming off the med? Will you be on a new one shortly?
I weaned myself off of Coreg as it gave me depression and chest pains. But first I had to weaned myself off of isoso...(Long acting nitroglycerin)... As that gave me even more chest pain... I didn't want to be "that old person" who takes a med and gets 2 side effects who then gets 2 more meds for the side effects and so on...
I feel soooooo much better off these meds!
I was originally taking 60mg and I am now down to 10mg. My doctor told me to go down 10mg every two days, then the last two days I will take 5mg then I will be off. I am getting off of them as I don’t feel I need them anymore. I was originally prescribed them for a strong pulse feeling I was having, but that has subsided
I think that may be too fast for you esp with your symptoms? Western docs are pretty business like and don't think about our systems being vastly different from one person to another. Maybe Google weaning off this med... But most importantly listen to your body. These are strong strong chemicals we're putting in our bodies!! Keep us posted!!
My cardiologist said I could stop it cold turkey. But i had read that you should never do that with blood pressure medications (even though i don’t take it for blood pressure) so i asked my primary care doctor how to wean off just to be safe. I even got a second opinion from a pharmacist and he said to take it (the 60mg) every other day for a week
I am hoping this feeling is just temporary as i only started feeling it yesterday being on 10mg, before that i was doing ok
Listen to your symptoms and Google other ways. These folks are technicians and often think one approach (or no approach. Lol) is good for all. It sounds like your system is sensitive and you need to take great care. What was it prescribed to help for you? Take it slow!! Hope you feel better today. 😁😁
I was prescribed it for a strong pulse sensation i was having right above my sternum. Thank you! I am feeling a little better
All depends on the drug and the person's state of health. After the accident in which I broke my femur I was on Tramadol for two months. I went cold turkey but took beer/whisky supplements! After my bypass I was on Tramadol again but tapered off over three - four weeks without supplements.
