New to Having a CDI fitted

Can any one let my husband know how long it took them to accept they had a ICD nd trusted it. It is very early days not even a week since my husband had his fitted. It seems that he is very conscious of it as would be expected. He is probably expecting too much too soon. He would be interested to hear about peoples experiences regarding this.
