AF medication

Recently diagnosed with AF and prescribed Bisoprolol 2.5. I'm 3 weeks in with medication and still having weird dizzy spells and thinking I'm about to faint! Is this normal? I feel worse now than before the medication. Will this ease off?

You should call your md.

Do you know how to check your pulse and have a blood pressure cuff?

Good. Get that checked out

Be careful moving position like when you stand go slow.

Make sure you are hydrated.

Best of luck

I was put on bisporolol because my heartrate was rapid. I had been taking cilazapril for my blood pressure, but was told to stop taking it when I started bisoprolol. I was told to take half a 2.5mg tablet and I get my chemist to cut trhe tablet in half. I have found that my blood pressure is reduced to about 100/70. and my heart rate dropped to between 60bpm too 70bpm. Your dizzy spells and fainting could be due to your BP falling too low. Ask your doctor if you can reduce your doseage. It may make you feel better.

Yes I think this too. It's very low for me.

Thank you for reply

I am getting close to four years in. I am taking lots of meds including Bisoprolol and they are still being re-adjusted . I think it's an on going thing with it

Yes I think there will be a bit of tweaking before I feel better.

This is so me right now. I was okay the first two weeks but suddenly now I'm so lightheaded. My blood pressure is too low when lying down and standing is getting tough. Have you checked yours? I just emailed my doctor yesterday, hopefully I get a reply soon. The low blood pressure makes my legs hurt and my chest hurt too.

I have called Cardiology today and they have advised I stop the medication and booked an appointment for me to see them. I hope all goes well for you.

Hi, been there. Ask if you might be a candidate for ablation.

I had it after AD and meds that made me FATIGUED. Ablation stopped the A fib.

Thank you, I'm going to see cardiologist next week. I'm sure they will give me another option.

Hi I had AF 8 weeks ago and as it didn’t respond to medication I had a cardio version and on discharge was on flecanid and appjxaban but that lowered my pulse rate to much, after halving the dose there was no improvement, so was changed to bisoprolol 2:5 . Initially i seemed to improve but then deteriorated to becoming very tired and some chest and throat. discomfort. I was seen by my consultant and have now stopped All medication

So fingers crossed although I feel quite vulnerable .

Awaiting some investigations
