6 months post op I am really missing my HRT (Livial in my case). Have been told that consultant has said no until 2020 but no specific reasons given! Please ladies do you have any experience of this or can you recommend any good alternatives? There seems to be a lot of conflicting advice and I'm currently going mad! Also feel it's affecting my recovery. (Possibly any nurse specialists out there who can give advice?)

I am sorry that you are in this situation.

You are right there is alot of confusion about HRT.

Your Cardiologist should give you good reasons in writing why they as a practitioner do not feel comfortable prescribing HRT.

It may well reflect their lack of knowledge as I would expect that menopause care is outside the usual sphere of practice of most Cardiologist

Perhaps ask your GP to refer you to a Menopause clinic.

Or ask the Cardiac Rehab nurses to recommend a more understanding and knowledgeable Cardiologist re HRT and ask for a second opinion.

It is about your quality of life and the NICE guidelines do recommend that after discussing the pros and cons including the risks with a doctor that as a patient your wishes should be considered in the decision making.

The NHS Constitution supports our right that no decision should be made without us.

Good luck.

I hope you are able to find a doctor to help you appropriately soon.
