Im 22 years old and had an echocardiogram done due to fast heart rate and shortness of breath. Ive had my results back saying that they suspect i have bicuspid aortic valve but r not 100% sure due to the angle of the probe. Im quite freaked out and keep thinking my heart will fail. Any advice. Im still waiting for my appointment with the cardiologist specialist. I also get a weird sensation where my heart it. Like some sort of pressure. Does anyone else have this sensation.

Bicuspid aortic valve
Hi, I was diagnosed with a heart murmur cause by a leaking aortic valve when I was 16. I was then monitored every year as it slowly got worse until I had an AVR at the age of 52. I was told by my cardiologist that they wouldn’t consider operating until it got severe and that their only concern would be if I got pregnant, as they would need to monitor me closely, but I avoided that problem by not having children!
It’s easy to say try not to worry, but it’s easier said than done. If they thought it was serious I’m sure you would already have an appointment to see the cardiologist. I think as soon as you are told there is something wrong with your heart your mind goes into overdrive and you start thinking every twinge in that area is your heart, I know I did. If you’re very worried give the hospital a ring where you had your echo, they are well used to dealing with people’s worries.
All the best.

Hi
i found out 18 months ago at age 57 that i had a bicuspid aortic valve and had i not had an unrelated heart issue i would never have known. it is something people can have all there life and not know about, so don't panic from what i understand if anything happens with it it will be a slow change and they can help that with medication and if need be can give you a new valve, which is a routine operation these days.
Don’t panic

If it's any help, I was born with a leaky heart valve, was monitored yearly, and always told that I shouldn't do many things! I tended to ignore most things, and lived my life the way I wanted to, had 2 children early in life, and finally had corrective surgery 7 years ago in my mid 40's
I guess I've never known my body any differently, so to me most things are just normal X
