I’m sorry but I’ve been replying to posts without introducing myself. I’m not sure if this is the correct procedure. I must admit though that I have found this site very therapeutic.
I had a heart attack on my 68th birthday. Although I was on a healthy diet, didn’t drink or smoke and went to the gym three or four times a week, I was expecting to have one. My dad died at 49 of a heart attack. I had been feeling very tired for at least a year and was being treated for menopause, arthritis and ‘overdoing it’. Even when the ambulance came they said the same, and A&E. It took four days before I was admitted to a Coronary Care Unit and a further four days (three of which on total bed rest) before I was taken for an angioplasty with one stent fitted. Whilst undergoing the procedure there were two power cuts and rebooting of the system. I was a nervous wreck when I finally got back to my bed. I was in hospital a total of eight days; being discharged the day after the angioplasty.
I found everything very traumatic and am still angry as heck at the fact that despite low cholesterol I had a heart attack. But I’m only angry with the Man upstairs and maybe successive Governments but not the hospital.
I’m grateful for the care I am receiving and this website and apologise if I’ve done things the wrong way round. Thanks.

Don’t apologise Maisie. The important thing is that you have found this site. What a stressful time you have had of it. I can’t imagine what it was like to be in the middle of a procedure and have a power cut.
Try not to continue with your anger I know that’s easy to say but I have a personal mantra that I am sure everyone has read but I shall repeat it anyway!! ‘I cannot change my past but can control my future ‘ so I can honestly say I have never looked back and thought what if or if only or why me. I use any energy on focusing on my future. I found it works for me. But everyone is different. It may be helpful to discuss your experience with a counsellor to help in getting rid of it in a supportive way. I hope you continue to improve and of course gain support from the forum. Take care.
