My 59 year old Husband had a radial cardiac catheterization procedure on Friday, they put the catheter in his hand, he has some bruising around the area, they also put some dye on his groin area, but did not insert a catheter here. Yesterday evening he noticed some swelling in the same groin area where they put the dye, it's not painful, and when he got up this morning iit had gone, but now it's come back again. Could there be a connection between the swelling and the procedure, his hand is stil quite bruised.l

Hello. Probably. He was probably given anti platelet tablets before the procedure and may still be taking them. A side effect of these is bruising that can last for a long time. It’s only a couple of days. I was sore for a few days but the bruises lasted for weeks. If he still has the swelling and you’re worried get him to ring the cardiac nurse tomorrow.
Hello Sarah
Was your husband not given a Telephone number to call should he have any problem with the area the procedure was carried out ?? I know my local hospital doesn't have a Catherization Ward open on weekends so it maybe you could call the CCU ward at the hospital the procedure was done and ask for advice.
Regards
Could be an allergic reaction to the dye
