Buzzing

I am experiencing a buzzing sensation from my CRTD. It was implanted in August 2018. It’s like when mobile phone is on silent and vibrates but can also hear a buzz. My husband can hear it to. No pain. Heart rhythm normal, paced, heart rate normal and BP. Anyone else had this?

My husbands ICD was vibrating in the night a couple of years ago, it sounded like a generator going. Nobody believed me but a lot of jokes were made about!! I have since found out a few people have experienced the same. As its so recently fitted it's unlikely to be the battery is falling, I would contact his device clinic to be on the safe side.

Thanks. It’s very odd feeling and I am having it checked out Tuesday having spent Friday night in CCU. They were puzzled too.. I am a woman, age 64. Feel well but my husband was very disconcerted.

Do you have a home transmitter? That could be a low battery warning

No I don’t but having it checked tomorrow. I only went last Wednesday and they adjusted it as I was getting diaphragmatic pulse too. Maybe that upset it! Would like a home monitor but because it was fitted in England last August and the I moved to Wales they say no funding for it!

Hi Billiewizz, I too have a CRTD and I also get the buzzing, I also sometimes feel the buzz in my feet bizzarely! I can also sometimes get the buzz just as I am falling asleep, very annoying as it wakes me up. It did worry me at first and had my device checked and was all working fine, and my heart was good and I was feeling great.

I have had mine fitted for over a year and although it has settled down more, I do still get a buzz at various times, I think I have got more used to it, especially as apart from that weird sensation I feel all ok.

I hope that this is reassuring for you, definitely get it checked out for that peace of mind, but if they are happy with the device and heart, then its just a little thing that the device seems to do. I sometimes wonder if the electric currents have hit a nerve or something (who knows) however the medical profession werent worried so I have accepted it more now,

Thank you so much. Having it checked tomorrow. Problem is it actually fired first 3 times and then went into buzzing mode. Has not buzzed since 0151 Sunday when my poor husband who was so worried was awake and heard it! I slept through. I feel very well and that photo of me is up the Skirrid in Wales. We live at the foot of it. I am really well. Haven’t met anyone else with. CRTD. Had it put in Kent in August moved 3 weeks later. Apart from having it calibrated in September and last Wednesday in Cardiff University hospital have seen none else who knows anything about them!

Wow... looks like you are living a wonderful and fit life! Especially if you can walk up mountains !!

There are a few of us CRTD ers on this forum.. . As I agree most people haven't heard of it.. including a GP at my surgery... and ambulance staff!! Guess that makes us special tho 😁. I have named mine Frankie ( short for Frankenstein.. . Now I am run on volts 😂😂) but I too feel great now I have my wires in place. At first the ice nurses did try to tell me I was imagining the buzzing... but then said some patients have said that they feel a buzzing sound. I hope that does reduce your worry and do let me know what the clinic says and good luck tomorrow xx

I recently plugged in my iphone charger at someone’s house to charge it and had a really nasty shock that tripped all the sockets and had to put the RCD switch back on in the mains unit.

I Immediately call the Pacing clinic, as I was only there the day before, to ask if it would have damaged anything in my Pacemaker, or any adjustments they might have made that could have caused the shock, but they said all should be fine. I felt okay though after initial shock and okay since.

I asked my rehab people what would happen if I touched an electric fence, but the only answer I got was "why would you do that?" :)
