AF when I have virus

Hi, I’m a newbie. I go into AF when I have a cold/virus. first time was last July when I was in hospital for a week. Just gone for a third time today. I’m on Verapamil and Apixaban. A dose of 300mg of flecainide has cardioverted me once before. I have no other heart problems and normal blood pressure. I wonder if anyone else gets this gathering storm type situation where Ill health leads to AF and if they’ve found a way to manage it?

Yes, first time my heart went out of sinus was after contracting pneumonia. Cardio version

worked second time round. OK for 9 months on 50 mg Flec twice a day. Then two chest infections pushed me out of sinus again. Doubled dose of Flec to 100 mg a day for 6 weeks and sorted me out. Now back on 50 mg Flec twice a day and stable. Avoid anyone with a cold like the plague and don't travel on public transport if you can help it, fly, or work in an office environment. For me any cold now goes to my chest and it is the coughing that my heart cannot take. I want to come off the Flec now as it is giving me horrible side effects, going to ask my Cardiologist if I can just use as a PIP if AF kicks in.
