Weight Gain

Good morning

Can anyone help me with this question?

I have severe Mitral Valve Prolapse and narrowed arteries (2 X arteries 94% narrowed & 2 X 74% narrowed). I'm now waiting for Open Heart surgery at Essex Cardiothoracic Centre.

I was put on atorvastatin three weeks ago. i told my Consultant that I was getting more and more breathless.The consultant then advised me to see my GP to see whether I should be prescribed Water Tablets.

The GP thought this wasn't necessary?

My weight has been increasing over this period. (Just for information I lost 2.5 stones a couple of years ago using a calorie counting diet so I closely monitor my calories)

I'm 6 ft tall and weighed 12st 4lbs a few weeks ago I'm now 12st 9lbs with exactly the same amount of calories.

Does anyone have a view on this? Could it be that as a result of my deteriorating condition I'm unable to do as much exercise?

Or could it be the Statins?

I think I would be in touch with your consultant. He/she is the expert and if water tablets are needed perhaps he can send a note to your GP?
