Is this part of the course for Angina?

Having daily pain on and off and fighting through it while I wait for the appointment to see my now new specialist in London in may.

Had a nasty (what I believe was Angina attack on valentines day followed by an even worse one on the 22nd.

Then suddenly I woke on the 24th and something had changed? I had No pain..Nothing all day..I even done a load of decking and went for a run..no pain? I got up the next morning and no pain..I worked my socks off and still no chest pain..Nothing for four days including during the night.

suddenly last night it came back! I'm now so down..I didn't realise just how normal I felt for those four days just like my old self before all this heart rubbish started..

Now I'm back to my daily/nightly grind of dealing with constant dull aches and feeling crap..

Is this typical Angina? And the way it plays with the body and mind???

Im pleased for you mate.

I'm struggling at the moment with eating.

Because I'm trying to eat healthier I'm now struggling to get the weight BACL on.

I feel weak and tired. Was 17st now 14.6 and struggling to get back up to 15st where I feel happier. Just shows that all that processed crap left me sitting at 17st for many years..

I am afraid this is the way it can be.

This condition is so unpredictable.

In the summer when I have very little pain I almost forget how bad it can be and just think it was a bad dream then bang a rude awakening.

I sometimes have outrageous pain out of nowhere no rhyme or reason.

Glad to see you have got a referral to a specialist in London.

Very sensible suggestion.

I have a snood scarf with ' wings' it covers my nose and covers my front and back too.

In the winter I once counted 7 layers- 2 thermal vests, tunic, 2 long cardigans, thermal fleece jacket, thick winter coat with hood up, thermal long John's and trousers.

Wool fleece liners in my shoes, 2 pairs of socks.

2 pairs of gloves including special silver lining gloves.

Don't think I'll be going skiing anytime soon...

I loved last summer I wore just one layer!

I was housebound for a week last year when there was snow on the ground, I got cabin fever....

My family banned me from going out the door into the world outside most unfair.

I had just come home from a week in hospital so I think they might have had a point!

If you are having frequent pains whilst waiting I would go back to GP to at least get some GTN spray. If they become bad go to A&E. My Gp used to be furious with me if I told her I'd had 2 attacks in a day and hadn't been to A&E. She always said the 3rd could be final! Since having my stents fitted I've been taken back in 4 times (Unstable angina). In fact I had an attack at 3.30 this morning which lasted 25 minutes even with 2 lots of spray. Feel totally washed out now but should be ok by later today. The point is, don't just ignore the pains.

Your pains sound just like mine.

I have GTN spray and I've had many admissions to hospital alteady.

But I can't keep calling them every single day or I would never work and end up having No income..Yes it sounds selfish but I have a young family to also care for and I'm not old enough sadly to draw my pension just yet! Believe me if I could I would and at least then I could relax and put my health first..I've already cut back with my work rate so doing what I can.I listen to my body as best I can and when it gets to a bad point I do call 999.

I'm off to Normandy next week for 4days and I'm already tense because of this angina.

I was so so confident but now I'm already worried about being on the ferry across to calais on my own and not having someone I know around me.Ive even given up flying for the time being because of the Angina..So if I stop working every time I get chest pain I may as well dig a hole now and put myself in it.

But thank you very much for your message

I have the same as you . It’s got to the stage where you don’t know how you’re going to be when you wake up in the morning. My last trip to my GP Tuesday ended up with him giving me a prescription for gaviscon I was so disgusted I forgot to ask about the results of my echo

Rob6868 profile image
Rob6868 in reply toCazz1954

Typical doctor with no knowledge giving out Gaviscon.

My step daughter went to our doctor and was prescribed exactly that..Gaviscon..It was later discovered it was her periods starting..Need I say more.

If you have angina you probably have blockages in your arteries. Has your doctor tested sugar, cholesterol, and inflammation markers? Have you had an ECG recently? How is your blood pressure? Has anyone mentioned stents to you? Any tests for diabetes? Have you considered seeing a cardiologist privately (about £200) to get a clear picture? The more information you can get the better.

Yes I did have a blocked artery

My LAD That was then stented back last may.

I'm on the usual Meds and have both lost Weight and changed diet along with trying to up my exercise even tho8i had a very physical job and went to the gym prior to this all happening. I've never smoked nor a drinker..Loads of stress in my life so perhaps that was the root cause? cholesterol wasn't particularly high at the time and I've never had high blood pressure and my HbAc1 is low

As for sugar...well I've more or less cut it all out plus I know all about the inflammation side of things and insulin resistance.

Hope that answered your question 😊

Bloody pressure has always been ok

I've had a stent procedure back last may. my cholesterol is now alot lower too..But it's not all about the cholesterol as we are now finding out. I'm not diabetic either as my levels are very low.

Hi lanc2

There is a very special group of people who have clear coronary arteries but still have angina.

The Vasospastic and Microvascular angina club.

It is not a club anyone would choose to join.

I have been a member for nearly 7 years.

I do not have Coronary heart disease, my BMI is 21, my HbAc1 very low.

I do not have any traditional risks factors.

I am still at risk of a heart attack, stroke or developing heart failure.

It's a funny old world 😉

I try to be good because I know that I should and if I do I will get better. That was before I read your letter just before I went to bed. Never heard of this condition, so onto Dr Google to find out more. Not a lot on there either.

Bleeding Heck Milkfairy, the only link I could find was with going out in very cold weather and snorting cocaine. Are you a spaced out eskimo?

Having had three stents in two years, I still get caught out by a dull ache or breathlessness for no reason . I can work in the garden all day , yet walk through the house in the evening and struggle for breath for no reason .... I am no expert beleive me , but I do read a lot and feel this is due to unstable angina ... and also prinz metal angina or variant angina ..... Have a read around this and see if you mirror some of the symptoms ...

Regards to all

Yup Vasospastic angina is alot more common than Cardiologists will admit.

It is poorly understood and recognised and difficult to diagnose and treat.

Vasospastic angina is the term being adopted by the specialists and researchers into Ischaemia and non obstructive coronary arteries replacing the term Prinzmetal/ variant angina or Coronary artery spasms.
