Hi,
I have my fitness for surgery assessment tomorrow at Harefield. They have said to allow for half a day.
Does anyone have any insight as to what the session entails?
Thanks

Hi... The tests done will vary from person to person but would typically include an ECG, echocardiogram, lung function, cartoid artery scan and chest X-ray. Height, weight, bloods and MRSA swabs are a given. I also had a kidney scan because I have been diabetic sine childhood. Obviously depending on medical history there may be additional tests.
Ok, thanks. I had all of those tests last November including angiogram and the Doppler tests on the neck. I guess they want to make sure everything is the same. How long was it between your FFS tests and the actual op (if you don’t mind me asking)
You may well have less tests than I as each test has a "lifespan". An angiogram lasts for a year (if my operation had been postponed again I would probably have had it repeated. Echos and ECGs about three months, and so on. MRSA, X-ray, etc, are always repeated as compared to the others trivial.
My op was three months after my "Fitness for Surgery" as I developed a tooth abscess when it looked at being four weeks. The norm is probably six weeks after the assessment. I have PM'd you.
