Heart Failure/Disease.

Hi, I'm a new member to this, and looking for information. Diagnosed with the above in Oct 18. Sent to hosp by GP with abdominal pain. A left double B & left ventricular systolic dysfunction was discovered. Had MRI 8 weeks ago still no results yet, and waiting for endoscopy to investigate abdominal pain. I'm currently on Ramipril 2.5mg twice a day and Bisoporol 1.25mg once a day. Heart failure nurse increased Ramipril to an extra 2.5mg at night, but side effects were getting worse after 8 days, so GP reduced it back to 2 a day. What I want to know is why does my Ramipril need to be increased if I'm feeling ok, and they still don't know MRI results? Don't really know much about this illness and the long term issues involved, just get handed leaflets.

Hi Bud. If I’ve understood, and if you have a diagnosis of HF there is always a plan to get you into optimum( gradually increasing) level of medication -a cocktail of drugs to manage the condition to stop you getting worse symptoms as it is a degenerative disease. Ramipril in one of that family but it’s a bugger for side effects. There’s lots of info on managing HF on the Pumping Marvellous website. Do take a look. Oh and if Ramipril doesn’t suit you, ask your GP to suggest an alternative- there are others in that family you can try. My husband is on Enalapril after intolerance to Ramipril. Good luck 🙂
