Hi I'm struggling to get worldwide travel insurance at a reasonable price. As soon as I declare heart attack & stent along with my diabetes (not insulin dependent) then I'm rejected. Any recommendations?

Try AllClear - only company which would cover my husband. Good luck !

There is a pinned post about travel insurance. You could also try StaySure if 55 or over.

I’m covered with AllClear, they even covered me for my Glacier Walk after a bit of further discussion!

I have used Staysure in the past but last time ysed the Post office. Its never going to be as cheap as before the event, but both companies are reasonable

Please stay away from Staysure as when I dialled their UK call number from abroad it went to another country abroad

We're with Arriva but hubby had HA & bypass 8 years ago & hasn't had any problems so think that's keeps premiums low.

We use Insurancewith.

Another vote for All Clear. My husband has had ‘the big 3’ (cancer stroke & HA) and noe Heart failure. It’s pricey for an annual worldwide excl USA & Caribbean. Eye watering if you include them🥴 but they are good.

I used Insurewith but this year I needed an annual worldwide policy. As a member of the WI there is a policy available with no health screen and no pre existing conditions are excluded except if you have been advised not to travel or have a terminal diagnosis. It is about £240 including USA and Caribbean

Try Getgoing travel insurance. Very reasonable I found compared with some quotes I got!

Good to go insurance. It is worth just working through the BHF list rather than going through the 'regular' insurers. They always say they might be able to insure and you spend loads of time going through endless questions only for them to point blank refuse when you mention your condition. It's a waste of time.

Towergate covered me (well controlled SVT, prior brain surgery) and my small person (severe-ish cystic fibrosis with multiple admissions in the 12 months before, underlying structural anomaly and a variety of additional needs) and a third well minor for two weeks in Florida for £300. For that we had £5m in medical costs cover. All the others, including the likes of stay sure, either turned us down entirely because my daughter was deemed too unstable even though some of the admissions were elective, or wanted upwards of £800. I would definitely use them again, if only because the medical team really seemed to understand and ask the right questions, particularly about littleun’s respiratory issues.

Try insurancewith . You will need to declare all your conditions. I just booked worldwide insurance with them - no problem.

I was turned down by 42 companies before I joined a local WI & their group policy with Open Travel insured me for £235 for annual worldwide including USA & Canada.

Three things they won't cover:

1. If you are terminally ill.

2. If you're travelling against medical advice &

3. If you're going abroad for medical treatment

Hope that helps. Clare

Hi Fionanot

I had a Heart attack on 14th November with stent fitted the same day, today I purchased an annual worldwide policy excluding Canada, USA and Caribbean from Covercloud via Medical Travel Compared, the policy was for myself only and included cruise cover, this was a lot cheaper than I expected so worth a try, good luck.
