Sorry bit of a long post, but have been lurking for a while following my Mums cardiac arrest last May which came from nowhere and has left her with heart failure categorised as severe.
Following two requests to my GP 1 from my mums original cardiologist (transferred due to geography only she arrested on a cruise ship) and a second from her local heart failure nurse to run tests and not getting a response I was told I had poorly controlled asthma symptoms at a nurse checkup and yet still no review from gp was just left a script for an inhaler.
Mums new cardiologist took the time to listen to my heart and had me on his list within two minutes, then followed an echo and today after an almost 7 week wait the results mild Mitral Regurgitation accompanied by a low side of normal ejection fraction not typical of MR for someone of my age. So now another wait for a further outpatients apt and to look forward to regular echo’s.
Could the lower ef issue be due to something else? And what do I do about exercise? I’m quite active and have been on restricted cardio exercise on the advice of mums HF nurse until now, should I remain on restricted cardio or can I go back to normal training?
Buy the way i’m Just 40, and do exercise (Bootcamp) at least three nights a week, prior to waiting for tests was also running once or twice a week too.
It’s the waiting and not knowing that’s difficult at the moment.
