Well today is the day this 44 year old goes for his bypass surgery this afternoon subject to no emergencies for my consultant
Didn’t get a wink of sleep then early breakfast at 05.30
Nursing staff are great, but no reassurance in the world is making me feel good about this afternoon
Will keep updating as the week goes on

Hope it all goes through as planned. My rescheduled procedure was planned for first thing but got postponed till the afternoon. Unfortunately lack of communication meant I missed my early breakfast and cup of tea. It will be over before you know it and you will be on Recovery Way! 
So close to being fixed, so just let go - it's a well practised and common procedure and as Michael says, it will be over before you know it and nowhere near as bad as you've no doubt imagined it. Good luck and a speedy recovery.

A bypass is just plumbing - very well understood procedure and you are young. I was 48 when I had my first and recovered quickly. I downloaded some relaxing meditation stuff and music onto my iPhone - was great after surgery to help me relax and blocks out the noise around you. There are also apps with rain sounds, storms etc that are very relaxing. Good luck.
