Got an exercise test coming up wat should I expect?
Exercise test : Got an exercise test... - British Heart Fou...
Exercise test
I had an exercise test last Wednesday, they will put a blood pressure cuff on you, and connect you to an ECG machine ( where a comfy bra, nothing too revealing! ) They will take a reading of both at rest, and put you on a treadmill, think it's done in 3 minute cycles , with a rest between each cycle X they will monitor your heart whilst you walk on the treadmill, it will get progressively faster ( but still walking) and steeper.
Hi mine was on a bike, they wired me up first then took a lot of readings, breath in breath out, stop start! Then a cardiologist nurse joined us to monitor ecg readings and blood pressure, then the work began lol, they asked me to bring the readings up to 60, i don't no what that means, I couldn't do it, managed 55, and keep it there for as long as possible as they increased the resistance on the bike, the nurse was excellent and very encouraging, but boy was my wee legs tired😀I get the results next week char x
With my test I had a face mask which I believe measured the gases etc., you exhale, and blood pressure regularly taken automatically. Not lovely but not terrible. The test lasted for as long as I could really, got faster and increasingly 'uphill'. You can stop when you want, but do as much as you can.
My exercise test was on a treadmill hooked up to a ekg and blood pressure monitor.
The treadmill started off slow (walking) and then increased in speed and slope every 3 minutes. I was told to go for as long as I could.
At 19 minutes they had to stop the test as the machine wouldn’t incline anymore and I was sprinting up a silly incline... needless to say I passed with flying colours
Exercise test, 12- lead connections to a machine while you are on a tread mill. Use clothing that you will use for gym. Ask many questions before hand, write down all questions and answers. As time goes your BP will increase, the nurse may comment that you have high BP. This is not true as your BP is going up because of the exercise.
If you are lucky your consultant can give you a meaningful answer!!!
I have had both a 12- lead test and an echo cardio gram to determine if I need statin!!!
What are you expecting?
