I have lived with high cholesterol otherwise healthy. I am overweight with BMI of 31.
I referred to lipid clinic and am advised to use statins. I do not want to go on statins.
Any advice on best way to change diet and lifestyle would be great.

Hello and welcome to the forum! Were you advised what your cholesterol was? The level would affect my response - high or raised has no real meaning.
Hello you haven’t given me much info. How is you fitness, your diet? Losing weight should help your cholesterol and moving more will help that but whatever your situation you can do things to help.
Let me know.
I am a personal training, who has had a heart attack

Since March I have been following a WFPB (whole food plant based) diet after watching the film "Forks Over Knives". My weight, blood pressure, cholesterol and pulse have come down to "normal" levels (80kg, 100/60, 2.7, 60bpm), sometimes lower, such that my doctor has been reducing my medication. She has taken me off the statin because I was getting a lot of side effects as well as my cholesterol coming down. I am convinced that my arteries are clearing but I have no proof of that except for blood pressure, cholesterol and pulse. If my arteries were still blocked these would be still raised.
My total cholesterol of 7.9; HDL 0.9 triglycerides of 6.3 and LDL being not calculable due to triglyerides; my NbA1c is 35 mmol/mol;
Lipids clinic has access to other drugs. Check with them. The numbers you quoted are very high. Fish oil may help with the lipids. But lipids clinic will advise, best to check as can be contradictions with other meds.
Avorstatin brought my levels right down as well as some diet changes.
Not noticed side effects and I am on high dose.
The great cholesterol myth. Is a good book
