Well, it’s my turn for AVR tomorrow morning - I’m first on the list thank goodness. I’m sitting here on my hospital bed waiting for the fear to kick in as my family have just left but to be truthful the thought of what would happen if I DON’T have this surgery is even more scary at this moment.
Wish me luck!!!

Good luck for tomorrow although you do not really need it of you are in safe hands. Hope you have something for a snack before the "Nil by Mouth" goes up around midnight as tomorrow will be a lot a long day although you will sleep through most of it. If you get too nervy they will give you something. I just thought of deserted beaches - gently sipping a John Collins! Sadly I only had water!
Thanks! Oooh - a cocktail is just what I need - I wonder if I could sneak across to the hotel in my gown!! Funny you mention beaches - I’m planning on going into theatre tomorrow thinking I’m on my lilo in the sea!! If only....😳😁✌️🤞
Very best of luck Alison! I was hoping you'd got back on the list! Fingers and everything else crossed for you, hope it goes well and you're soon on the mend. Post if you feel up to it. Coincidentally I'll be in St Thomas's tomorrow morning for my CT scan so I'll be thinking of you! I'm still looking like some point in November but no idea when yet. All the best Nic x
Ha ha yes indeed! Would have loved to but expect you'll be a tad pre-occupied! I'll DM you my number however in case things change/get pushed back etc and you're sat in bed at a loose end (and off nil by mouth of course). Though I hope of course things don't. Good luck again x
Good luck. I’m sure it will go well and you will feel benefit quickly. I’m waiting on a date although mine is TAVI which is via artery not open surgery. Best wishes x
Good luck Alison. I can begin to imagine how you feel as it's my turn in the next few weeks. Sending you strength and calm to get you through the next few months. Let us know how it goes.
I hope all goes well, I'm 2yrs post op in Dec. Have just been away for a few days which included walking up hills, for 15 yrs before op hubby used to pour scorn on me because I'd get so out of breath & nearly collapse. Everybody used to say I was just unfit! It was a relief to find out the reason & now feel great x
Hi Alison - sorry I didn't see your post earlier. Fingers crossed it is all over now and you had no delays. I am so looking forward to hearing the next update from you. Only 9 days to go for me!!! Love the idea of the beach/lilo - think I will have to start practising my visualization. Hope it all went to plan and wish you all the very best for a positive and speedy recovery. x
