I have been told that my recent chest pains are most likely caused by angina, but no one will confirm this until further tests are completed. I kind of feel a bit in the dark, as I've never had any heart problems and there has never been any suggestion of issues before. I'm mid-40's, non-smoker, not overweight and live a pretty healthy lifestyle. The Dr's have put me on a selection of tablets but no one has actually talked to me about the condition, what it means for the future and where i go from here. I'm hoping to find people on here with similar experiences, or any advice? Thanks in advance

hi, until tests are done they have no idea what the problem(s) are? so you get a rounded bag of sweeties as an interim based on judgement.

There are loads of differant heart complaints not just the wellknown ones, some they can say it is this or that straight away but some can take months to diagnose.

Thanks for your reply. I've had an ecg which showed some anomalies, and blood tests which were normal. There is family history of angina (grandfather and aunt) and the Dr said thats why he was leaning towards angina. I just feel like I've been sent home with little or no information except "wait for more tests".

yes it can be worrying but no body can tell you what it is until tests are done, even negative tests can point the doctor towards your condition.

Angina isnt nice, but lots of different heart/vascular diseases can cause it, do you get it at rest or during exercise
