Heartbeat reassurance

Hi, im looking for reassurance more than anything. I recently had a 24hour ECG, ordered from my neurologist as i keep partially loosing consciousness. It came back that my heart is beating way too fast and ive been reffered to cardiology. Today i went for a sleep due to extreme fatigue and was woken by what felt like a punch in my chest, followed by feeling fuzzy then 4 lesser punches. I thought i was dying!!!! Im so scared. Has anyone else experienced this and can reassure me?

Hi Shabbyheart... my advice if you ate getting unexplained pain such as you described... ring 999 it's better to be safe than sorry. You have had a heart issue recognised ... and when something like that our of the ordinary happens it's always safer to get it checked out. And if it's not something bad then the hospital will give you the explanations and reassurance you need. Worry and stress are also really bad for our hearts.

Please don't feel bad about ringing for an ambulance ... the ambulance crew will be fully supportive and will whisk you to the nearest hospital to be checked. As this has now already happened it would be worth you ringing 111 to have a chat about what happened... don't wait for a GP appt. Although all of us on here offer help and support where we can... for anything like this you need to be chatting directly to the experts. All the best karen

Hi I had exactly the same thing, I have an icd and I thought it had fired, fortunately two days later I had an appointment with a cardiologist professor, I phoned and spoke to the nurse before I went and explained what had happened, I was scared, they were brilliant done an ecg and got my icd checked which hadn't fired, the conclusion was it was ectopic beats,it has happened once since but now I know what it is it wasn't so scary, I have another appointment with my cardiologist next month who will check again, I am so grateful for the care the NHS has given me, I have dilated cardiomyopathy and heart failure, take care char x
