Angina or acid reflux?

Hello, I'm new to this site and would appreciate some advice. I was diagnosed with micro vascular angina four years ago and have been on ivabradine since. I've been having heartburn on and off for years, went for an endoscopy yesterday to see if it was due to acid reflux, but it all came back normal. Ive noticed any high sugar foods give me heartburn, jams, hot chocolate and puddings. I'm now trying to work out if it's my heart or digestive system. I would be grateful for any advice from anyone with similar experience or any health care professionals. Thanks in advance. Jules.

Hi Jules,

I thought I was having heartburn, but I was also getting tightness in my chest as well. To cover both bases I had an endoscopy, which came back fine, then angiogram which showed narrowed coronary arteries. I believe angina can manifest itself in heartburn like symptoms.

Thank you for that, really helpful. Just nice to hear from someone going through the same thing. I'm keeping record of what foods give me heartburn and can hopefully get some answers hopefully from the Dr's. 😊😊

Hi Sky,

I had a number of issues for over two years. One of the main issues was acid reflux. My tastes changed and I was unable to eat some foods. I had a Manometry which showed the muscles in the digestive system were not working in sync, but nothing could be done. With this and all the other various issues, I was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue 12 months ago ( had cardio tests too). 7 weeks ago I had a heart attack and cardiac arrest. two blocked arteries and a third diseased. My reflux is easing and am even going back to some foods as part of the balanced diet recommended. I hope you find it eases for you as you progress. keep the faith !

Just a warning,

My husband went to hospital with chest pain.

Two days later, they sent him home, assuring him that it was acid reflux. Three days later, he died of a heart attack!

I had a bad heart attack, followed by a triple bypass

last year. If I get heartburn, unless I am very sure it is acid reflux, I spray nitroglycerin under my tongue.

Better sure than sorry.
