One for the older gentlemen amongst us.....

If you are an older male (and we do form the biggest group in the cardiac patients) there's a chance that the mighty prostate is adding itself to your problems. It is me.

My GP is trying me on Diffundox, aka Tamulosin, and I have to say that I don't like it. Or, to be more precise it doesn't like me. Headaches and a few seconds of being wobbly on my feet on standing up are the worst of it.

Serious question for those taking it.

Did any side effects you had ease after a time as your body got used to the stuff, or do the problems continue as long as you were on that particular drug?

I've been taking the drug for nine days now with no improvement.

I took Tamulosin for a while and to be honest it didn't help. What you need to be aware of is the implications if you may need cataract surgery. Tamulosin can cause the Iris to tare of "flopp" during surgery. Thats what happened to me and it caused and is still causing problems for me. I do wish I hadn't taken the drug....it didn't help my prostrate problem at all and caused me difficulties when I had to have cataract surgery. That is my experience, but we are all different

My hubby gets most of his exercise getting in and out of bed every night to visit the porcelain throne. He’s tried almost every med. He is on Rapaflo right now and it’s helped somewhat.

Research is now underway in developing a “stent” that would provide a passage way through the enlarged prostate and alliviate the problem that all men experience with age.

Hope springs eternal for men as well as their bedside partners.
