What are the guidelines on exercise for LVH? I’m worried I might be overdoing it and possibly making things worse. Currently taking amlopidine for hypertension, so my BP is just about perfect right now. Ive got LVH and various ectopic beats etc, as a complication. Currently walking a 5k 5-6 times a week on treadmill but thinking about cycling to work a couple of times a week. It’s 16 miles one way. GP said not to lift heavy weights and do ‘moderate exercise’ 3-5 times a week. But how much is too much?

There isn’t really a fixed answer here. The best advice I received was to listen to your body, it will tell you if you are overdoing it. Your other option is to monitor your heart rate. Post triple CABG I was told to keep my heart rate at no more than 110bpm - I ignored this as I felt it never pushed me. I now aim to keep below 135 bpm and that seems to be good for me. It really comes down to how you feel. Personally I think your regime looks challenging just with the walking - doing 5 k three times a week would be closer to the recommended regime
