I am a new member, and have a question. I am 77 years old have copd, and have lvh. I have been told that as you age the left ventricle stiffens, is that true.

lvh
I have mild lvh but I'm only 56.It's not a normal part of aging however. In my case I had very high undiagnosed high blood pressure and my left ventricle thickened up to cope with the pressure. As I say it is mild but I'd like to keep it that way for as long as possible. For me keeping my blood pressure down is key and there is a possibility it might regress...no guarantees though.Do you have high bp?
My BP is normal, and thank you for your reply.
My last reply was a little short. I will try to complete the question you had. My
father did died of lung disease my mother of enlarged heart. I have been very healthy since about 65 years. My question is since I have been on BP meds for the last 15 years, is there anything else. Thanks for any reply. Sincerely
Ah I see so you have normal bp because of treatment...same here. You say your mum died of an enlarged heart. Was this hypertrophy and how old was she when she died?
All I know is she died of an enlarged heart, she was 79 years old.
