Weight gain?

Hi I have moderate aortic stenosis had all the tests ...still waiting for decision in what they going to do...either operate or monitor....

The waiting is stressing me out ..

Random question but can you have rapid weight gain with aortic stenosis? I'm also bloated, right ankle swollen but thought might be the heat. Get a heaviness on chest just walking small distance up slight incline . Crazy supposed to exercise but out of breath when I do. Been so tired Monday and Tuesday weird like phased?? Lol...better today. Went to gp today wouldn't discuss anything really until he gets reports from cardiologist. Said ring them if symptomatic!

Anyone else get these symptoms or am I worrying?

Fudge, I'm not medically qualified, but sounds like fluid retention. If your heart isn't pumping properly that can happen. Your symptoms are similar to what happened to me before I was diagnosed with my heart problem - not saying its the same as yours, but I had a very mild aortic stenosis which was being monitored. It went mild to severe pretty quickly, and I ended up being admitted with pulmonary edema (fluid on the lungs), and was then diagnosed as having had a HA, possibly a couple of weeks before. Hassle your gp. Your symptoms are classic heart failure. Hopefully it isn't, but it might make the gp get of the fence and actually do something. Hope it works out for you.

Hi hope your ok .

Still no decision on what they doing. 2017 echo valve was 36 gradient this year 50 gradient? Cardiologist said rapid detoriation going from mild end of moderate to severe end of moderate.

Had few sharp pains yesterday briefly on left side . Scared me a bit if honest. Rang gp said again until they get reports can't do anything. I got apt week Thursday. Only meds I on thyroxine ( I'm underactive) atorvastatin and amodipline and omprezole ( excuse spelling)

Have you had valve replacement?

Have good weekend.

Hi fudge, I’m stable and in good nick at the moment, thank you. I haven’t had a valve replacement, but I will need one some time. With the drugs I’m on (Mine are for diagnosed heart failure so different to yours) everything’s okay right now.

But back to you, if you have got fluid retention, the gp can see it by examination (bloating and swollen ankles/legs), they don’t need a specialist report or tests for that. Keep hassling them. If it were me, I would book appointments every day for a bloc of days, and tell them it’s because your symptoms are not being dealt with and you need to keep going back until they do. Or, if they refuse to do that, book the next appointment with any doctor as soon as you arrive for the one you’ve got scheduled. You just need to keep telling them you are ill and they are dealing with it. Make notes in a note book in the reception so the staff see you doing it. Keep plugging away at it. Hope it works out.

I tend to agree with gmkilly, sounds like fluid retention. This could be drug related, cardiac related or heat related(or a combination of any or all of them). Go and hassle your GP as it’s clear things are not as they should be.
