Hi all,my first time on here. I was diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy last year although I have had problems for almost 30 years, ectopics. I had an angiogram and other tests. Both my parents lives well past 80,mother never had any heart problems but my father had a pacemaker fitted when he was about 79 so,as this is supposed to be an inherited disease,I wonder if he had it although he never complained of any problems. I find, even after 30 years, that the ectopics get me down. I seem to o go through bad periods followed by a remission. I have found that they come on after a meal or even just a drink, does anyone else find this. I am on Bisoprolol but only 3.75mg a day,my B/P is quite low and my heart rate is about 55 bpm so I can't increase the medication. Any suggestion how I might reduce my he ectopics?

Hi. I think alcohol sparks my af off. Also feel quite bad after some meals. I am currently having tests for inherited cardiomyopathy. My brother had same af (with pacemakers )which progressed to restrictive cardio and sadly didnt make it thru a transplant. Neither of our parents had af. (Sick sinus).
But relatives used to have mysterious illnesses not named or diagnosed. Have you tried magnesium citrate supplement.
Might help.
My ectopics started when I was a child and I was told it was just 'one of those things' that are benign and should not give any problems. I find that caffeine brought them on more. Try watching the York cardiologist youtube.com/watch?v=HySnRlK... Sanjay Gupta who give some really valuable information. If I follow a healthy diet and cut out alcohol and fizzy drinks they are almost non-existent. Since my triple bypass in March I have had a few but not nearly as much as I had before. I've always thought they are something I need to live with and embrace. Not see as any failure. Best of luck x
