Hi, I am new to this site and would like to ask, if there are any Octogenarians, out there, who have had surgery for a "Leaking Valve" and would like to share their experience with me. I`m 87yrs young and awaiting possible surgery !!
Leaking Valve: Hi, I am new to this... - British Heart Fou...
Leaking Valve
I'm in my 50's I had surgery for severely leaking Mitral valve in Feb and a hole in my heart fixed during same op if that helps.
Hi. I’m new to this site, I’m in my late 50’s and just been diagnosed with partial prolapse of the mitral valve. It’s freaked me about a bit to be honest. I’m trying to get my head around it as it was found on the back of something else so not expected. I’m going to be monitored annually so they can see if it’s getting worse etc. I don’t know how long I’ve had it. Can you have the valve repaired via keyhole surgery? I assume you may have had open heart surgery due the hole in the heart. Any views or experiences with living with this leaky valve would be greatly appreciated. Cheers
Hi. I have two Mechanical Valves (Aortic and Mitral) plus a Pacemaker. I was diagnosed during my first Pregnancy (a long time ago)! I lived a reasonably normal life but just had regular Echocardiagrams/Scans until it had become Severe. Then they Operated. My advice, take your Medication and listen to the Consultant and you will be fine
I’ve had many surgeries for a leaky valve.
Hi. Was it for the mitral valve by any chance? I’ve just been diagnosed and being monitored annually but I’m looking worse case scenario that it may have to be operated on at some point. Did you have keyhole surgery? How come you’ve had many surgeries? We’re the previous ones unsuccessful or for different valves? Any information would be appreciated as I’m still trying to get my head around it. Thank you
I’ve had the mitral valve repaired and replaced and the artora valve repaired and replaced but I got my artora infected many times due to me having a hole in my heart and having dental infections that have spread to my heart. I’ve had many done via keyhole surgery.
I take it there are not many octogenarians, around with "leaking valve" !!
how did it go?
