Hi. I have been drinking decaff tea for several years now.I had trouble with coffee caused by hyperparathyroidism. I have always enjoyed coffee when abroad as it tastes so different. When I came back from holiday last week I carried on drinking decaf instant coffee at home and enjoyed it. this morning I made a carafe on fresh real coffee which I really enjoyed. However since then I have been feeling dreadful with dizziness and a weird feeling in my chest. Does anyone think the caffeine and weird feeling are related?

I suppose its possible, given that you have steered clear of caffeine for so long. I am an espresso drinker, love the stuff, and I have no issues. I do not drink 'long' coffee however as I find it can give me stomach pain.

Have you checked your pulse? Whilst caffeine does not cause palpitations it does raise the pulse. This is why you are asked to abstain before say either an angiogram or a CT scan.
