This is a nervous time for everybody. We have all been through it. Look at it this way: if you have a problem it has been caught before it became too serious. Good Luck for when you see your GP!
In the health sector I work in a traffic light system is also used. Amber tends to indicate some degree of intervention is needed. In cardiology this might suggest medication, lifestyle changes, etc. You do not mention symptoms but if anything gets worse you should ring 111 or 999 depending on severity. Many hospitals load the results of 24hour/48hour/7day monitoring onto the EPR (Electronic Patient Record) so theoretically out-of-hour and emergency services should be able to access the results. As Jimmy said if there was something really worrying you would have been contacted urgently. Hope it turns out to be nothing overly serious!
Hi, thank you for your reply. I went to the doctor a few weeks ago as I have been having an irregular heart beat for a few weeks. The doctor ordered a blood test and ecg and arranged for me to have a holter for 24 hours. I am aged 63. Unfortunately the holter results got lost in the system for over a week and have only just been found today (and results passed to my doctor who has not read them yet) and I was sent the message from the cardio people:
"Cardiology Advice:
ECG abnormality observed. On the basis of available information and ECG, action may be required. This may be
review of history, medication and/or referral for further tests and/or opinion of a cardiology specialist. "
With an Amber light next to the message.
I have not had any other symptoms, just the weird heartbeat.
Yes, if I started getting real pain in the chest area I would call 111 or 999 - hoping I dont have to do that tho.
Hi Toni I hope you don’t have too long to wait, difficult times. I’m trying to persuade my mum to go private for ECG, she’s very fatigued had black outs and fractured her foot during one blackout episode. V worried, she approaching 70 and is very stubborn!!! Good luck with everything.
