Today I rang my Doctors and asked to see if my results have came back for my 24hr holter monitor after waiting over a month, the receptionist did not see them in her files so put me through to the triage team. The triage team rang me back and said my results were normal but shows I have a fast heart rhythm and didn't show any missed beats (which I've been having for nearly 5months every day) she said it would just be something I'd have to live with but could go on medication for it. Is it worth going on medication? As I've heard medication will do nothing for it or could make it worse?
Thanks for any help

I'm not a doctor but what I think you are describing is ectopic beats. This being the case the general advice seems to be that these are not in themselves a cause for concern (although they can be a cause of some anxiety). You really should be talking to your GP about this, but in general terms, if you don't need to take medication, don't.
Hi. I had a 24 hrs halter monitor fitted that found an irregular heart beat.
I continued too have bad days when my heart would slow and I would pass out for several minutes. This not being acceptable I had a 3 year monitor fitted. Within days it found that my heart would stop for 20/60 seconds before returning to normal. I was then fitted with an ICD unit and at 82 years of age playing golf and gardening as normal.
I would suggest that you ask your GP to refer back to Cardiac Investigations. Best of luck. Derek
