Hi Vonnieruth , the BHF has a few articles on living with AF that I think might help you:
bhf.org.uk/heart-matters-ma...
bhf.org.uk/heart-matters-ma...
There's also an information booklet that covers more about the condition and different types of treatment: bhf.org.uk/publications/hea...
Hope this helps!
I was born with a different heart condition and live normally apart from wen I’m due for a heart op and wen I’m recovering from a heart op.
Hi thanks for message This is all new to me and I have anxiety to which doesn't help
I understand it’s new. Yes there are some things that are different like I eat healthy and exercise but get it doctors help with that as I do as I’m unsure wat I can do physically cos of my heart condition and had it my whole life. So I have those worries still in my 30s from since a little kid. I have to have antibiotic cover for dental treatment but I believe u need to ask ur doctor to check if it’s needed like I had to. I can’t go on rollercoasters but I’ve never gone on them as I was born with a heart condition so socially I always refused if possible to go to theam parks. Sorry I can’t spell.
I have been in permenant AF for over two years. My medication is just Bisoporol and an anticoagulant (Apixiban) i live a perfectly normal life. I cycle, swim, walk miles and chase after my 5 year old grandadughter. I am a 71 year old male. If you let it AF will define you and you will spend your life worrying. AF is not life threatning or life shortning. Be the boss don't let AF take over.
I understand Vonnieruth, but try not to let AF take over your every waking minute. None of us would want to suffer from AF given the choice and to be perfectly honest there are far worse conditions that could effect us. AF is not life threatening you can live with it. It is a very very common condition. Just don't let it domineer your life because if you do it can take over. Don't feel bad about worrying about it in the early stages we have all been there but it will get easier. Take care
Since 2009. When I was first diagnosed. To be honest i have learned not to think about AF and in time so will you. If you allow yourself time and learn about the condition you have. I refused an offer of an Ablation in 2016 but to my mind the risks of Ablation although small outweighed the benefits. I now accept I am in AF and enjoy life.
I simply don't allow it to impact on my life.
You never feel anxious then
