MRI / CT Scans

Hi all, feeling a bit apprehensive for the coming month, I have my first appointment for MRI and CT scans next week and my first appointment on the Cardiology clinic for the results later this month. I sort of know what to expect with the scans, but that’s about it! What will they be looking for? What can I expect at my review appointment? Any advice on important questions I should be asking?

Many thanks ....

Fi 😊❤️

When I had these they were looking for blocked arteries. Unfortunately, they found one.

I’m dreading to think what they might find 🙁

You are better off knowing than not knowing. Finding the blockage has driven me to make important decisions in my life. I hope to improve my health as a result.

I had an emergency CT scan today m, took just about 3 mins and got the results within a couple of hours - luckily all clear. I had to go to A&E this morning with high blood pressure and dizziness. Back home now and awaiting a MRI scan.

They will be looking at your blood flow and especially for major constrictions/blockages. You may be given a dye injection to help this process. The CT scan will be very quick, the MRI somewhat longer and certainly loud! With the possible exception of the need for a dye, they are non-invasive, just lie back and relax . Fingers crossed, no unwanted findings
