I am 7 days post op for a cabg. How long does it take for the redness to disappear from your harvested vein sites. How long must you wear the compression socks for?

Hi, I had a quad bypass last April. The veins were taken from the inside of my left leg. I have 4 scars from my groin to my ankle. I found the lower scars seemed to fade within about about 6 months but the higher ones in the fleshier part of the leg are still very dark but starting to fade. I was told the to wear the stockings for6 weeks.Good luck with your rehab.

Hi :-)

I had a triple bypass seven months ago , my leg took a while to heal after 6 months , I am starting to feel normal again , it takes a while to feel comfortable again , I think 🤔

Just rest , walk , more rest , more sleep , good food , take your meds and hug a cushion , every time I went to bed to lay down , I would hug a cushion , I found it a great comfort to relieve pressure on my wound .

You will get your off days when you are fed up and want a good cry 😢 I did .

IT does pass , just don’t rush it .

Best wishes xx

My husband is also 7 days post cabgx3. I have noticed the redness already calming down a bit (arm and leg).

As to the socks he isn't wearing any as he was sent home without any (Papworth )

A good 6 months. It's the slowest part of the recovery. gentle excise. don't over do it. Patience pays off. Eat well. Did not wear compression sox. I wish you well, It'll all be worth it..

I am almost 5 months post triple CABG. I have one long scar on the inside of my left leg running from just above the ankle to about 6-10cm above the knee. I have never had any issues so it’s healed amazingly well. My incision was glued together. As someone has said already, the scar at the bottom is noticeably paler that the scar around the knees. The scar at the joint looks ‘stretched’ which I guess isn’t surprising. Overall the scar is fading but slowly. It still looks better, in my opinion, than the one in my chest (which is also ‘lumpy’ and is more likely to be irritated by clothing).

I wore the hospital supplied compression stockings for 4 weeks post op but I have taken to wearing knee length compression socks (a bit like flight socks) all the time now as I found to be a lot more comfortable than the typical M&S men’s socks..
