Angiogram

I'm new on here and after reading some of the posts appreciate how lucky I am to have reached the age of 68 without experiencing any former heart problems. I thought I had indigestion when I awoke on the 26th February this year at midnight. However, when the discomfort started to radiate down my left arm I realised that something wasn't right. I ended up on our local cardiac ward for 4 days. My angiogram showed that my arteries weren't sufficiently blocked to warrant stents so I have been sent home on loads of tablets still slightly in shock. I have been experiencing a few twinges in the left side of chest which scared me but have been reassured after reading some of the posts on here. I will be joining the rehab programme as soon as I am invited.

Hello Kevin and welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear of your condition. Did you get prescribed any meds, particularly a gtn spray? If so do not be afraid to use it, if the chest pains go post use then it's likely angina. Use your gp and your cardiac nurse if you have one. Each of us have mildly differing symptoms but for now you gave to learn to recognise normal from abnormal and ask what course of action is going to be taken

Good luck Mark

Can I just add something to Mark's reply - if your condition gets any worse, get yourself to A&E immediately.

Hi Kevin

Have you had the stents fitted yet or are you waiting an appointment?

Hi Kevin I too have medication to manage my angina. I only had the one episode and lucky for me only the one . I know what a shock and worry it is to find out you have Cad . I felt I was a ticking time bomb. Go to the rehab classes they really help . I think it takes time to come to terms with finding out you have angina but a year and four months on I find thinking positive and trying not to worry too much really helps . Wishing you well x
