2 weeks to go

Well, today I got the call I have been both hoping for and dreading at the same time. My operation date for AVR surgery has been arranged for 2 weeks today - eek!!

It now all feels very real and whilst I want to get it sorted and for the recovery to begin, I am also terrified and don’t feel very brave tonight 😟

Hi, I do hope you got some rest last night. Things often feel so awful in the dark hours. It’s hard to always stay positive.

Is there any preparation you can do before your op that might keep you busy?

Can you see some good friends or family who might lift you.

Any box series to distract you?

Reading everyone’s story on here, I think we all feel terrified at some points.

Hope today’s a better day

Best of wishes

Sara

Thanks Sara. It wasn't a good night but I have plans to stay busy for the next 2 weeks - choosing the right friends to see - you know what I mean - the ones who you laugh with!

Hi, at least it will all be over with in two weeks time rather than in limbo waiting for a date. Having been through two AVR ops I can appreciate how frightening the prospect of the surgery can be. Try to think past the op if you can and think of some nice things to do whilst you recover.

Hopefully the next two weeks will fly by and it will all be over with.

We’re all here to support you, pre and post op.

Take care.

Last time I had surgery - it was a prolapse - I sewed a tapestry cushion - I'm going to choose one to do during my recovery - going to go and look for one today

Hi Mo44, yes keep busy and if you are able do a few exercises and walking to build up your strength. This will help with your recovery.

Once you get to hospital the time goes very quickly, it's not as bad as you imagine, you are in good hands. To them an AVR is routine. All being well you'll be home in no time.

Plan ahead for your recovery, and look forward to a 'new you' this coming spring and summer.

Best wishes. Margaret x
